We're on the lookout for someone like you to play a crucial role in delivering a modern and professional Internal Audit service.
About the Role:
As the Audit Manager, you'll report to the Service Manager for Internal Audit and Risk (SMIAR). Your responsibilities will include managing a team of senior auditors, ensuring their development, and overseeing performance management. Additionally, you'll establish effective relationships with specific directorates, working closely with corporate directors and management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct interaction with relevant corporate directors and their teams.
- Utilise excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication.
- Work proactively, understanding business needs, strategies, risks, and controls.
- Develop a risk-based Internal Audit plan for assigned directorates.
- Provide insightful and future-focused advice contributing to successful strategy delivery.
- Act as a 'critical friend,' influencing and improving governance processes.
- Champion good practices within directorates and across the Council.
- Attend directorate management team meetings for quarterly update reporting.
- Contribute to the delivery of audit work for external clients.
Qualifications/Training:
- Full and active membership of a CCAB Body or qualified to practitioner/certified level of the IIA
- Sound knowledge of Internal Auditing professional standards.
- Demonstrable experience of establishing and maintaining good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
