This is an opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic communications specialist to join Manchester City Council’s award-winning Strategic Communications service.

  • This role will be part of the multi-talented Internal Communications team.
  • You will be required to deliver successful end to end creative Internal Communications campaigns aligned to the Council’s priorities to ensure our staff are informed, engaged and recognised right across the organisation.
  • This role works with and supports the Internal Communications Manager to deliver the Internal Communications strategy and plan, along with working closely with HR’s Organisational Development team to deliver priority staff engagement events.
  • We have a diverse and talented workforce, with multiple opportunities and benefits for all our staff. This role aims to enhance the experience of being a Manchester City Council employee.
  • This role will be required to work with senior leaders, services and stakeholders from across the whole organisation.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a passionate and creative Internal Communications officer to join our fantastic team.

  • It’s important you can demonstrate your passion for Manchester and for Internal Communications and you will need to have some communications experience to be successful in this role.
  • You need to understand the value of employee Communications and can deliver communications activities that best meet the needs of difference audiences.
  • You will work in a fast-paced environment and lead on a variety of creative campaigns in partnership with a wide variety of services. You will be required to bring ideas to life and take the initiative to develop content for multiple channels.
  • We are an experienced and supportive team and want to work with someone who has a positive attitude, good initiative, is willing to learn and can work to an excellent standard.
  • You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly writing for different sources and audiences. The role requires you to be an advocate for the city, champion staff and be able to build strong and positive working relationships.
  • We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate an understanding of the digital landscape and has experience of working with core digital tools and systems that support communications planning and delivery. You need to be able to adapt quickly and work confidently with our digital platforms to deliver the very best outcomes for our staff.
  • You will play a key part in making staff feel celebrated, recognised supported and engaged by putting them at the heart of your communications activity.
