About the role   

As the charity works to double the number of women it helps, the Fundraising & Partnerships team is recruiting for an Events & Communications Manager. They will engage new and existing supporters and raise vital funds in support of our mission.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, Partnerships and Communications, the Events & Communications Manager will play an integral role in delivering an exciting portfolio of fundraising and retail events across the year and will manage Smart Works Scotland’s digital communications to support the growth and development of the charity.

The successful candidate will have good relationship building skills to ensure lasting and mutually beneficial event partnerships, experience in stakeholder management (both internally and externally) and demonstrable knowledge of best-in-class event delivery. Experience in digital communications, in particular social media management, email marketing and website management, is highly desirable.

The role will be based primarily at our Smart Works centre in Glasgow with occasional travel to Edinburgh. Reasonable travel expenses to and from Edinburgh will be covered. Occasional weekend and evening work is also required to lead and support on our external events.

Duties and responsibilities  

The successful candidate will support on a range of activities, including:

  • Leading on Smart Works Scotland’s signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events, fashion sales, and pop-up shops, managing the project from planning to execution and ensuring income targets are met.
  • Effectively steward and manage multiple fashion retail and Events partners to increase annual gift-in-kind support, clothing donations and engagement.
  • Lead on Smart Works Scotland’s digital communication activities, including taking images and copywriting for all Smart Works social channels, managing monthly email newsletters, and website content creation and management.
  • Building strong working relationships across the Smart Works Scotland community, collaborating effectively to ensure impactful results.
  • Play a key role in growing our supporter base in Glasgow through community fundraising and corporate partnerships, supporting the wider Fundraising and Partnerships team.
  • Supporting the wider team as required with service delivery whilst in the centre.

 

 

Personal Specification

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of event management and delivery, ideally in a fundraising capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing digital communication including social media channels, email newsletters, and websites.
  • Strong relationship building skills and confidence managing various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop value-adding partnerships.
  • Able to identify and implement new ideas or ways of working.
  • Effective project-management skills, comfortable with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel), social media platforms and digital content creation software such as Canva and Adobe InDesign

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a fundraising or sales-based role.
  • Experience working with VIPs or influencers.
  • Interest in fashion and clothing retail.
