Job description

Nuclear Waste Services are looking for an Internal communication partner to connect, inspire, and enable our people in our vision to ‘make nuclear waste permanently safe, sooner.’ Creating an environment where people can be at their best, no matter who they are or what role they play. With simple, clear and repeatable messages that reach them wherever they are.
As a trusted partner to members of our Executive you will develop companywide campaigns, messaging and tactics that successfully communicate to colleagues and stakeholders using a range of internal channels. Using your excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills you will write news articles for publication across our digital channels, lead regular staff briefings, and support our annual employee roadshows. Gathering data and insights from our engagement surveys, channels data and anecdotal feedback to review and continuously improve how we do things.

  • Develop and oversee our Internal Communications strategy, plans, and channels so that we are effectively engaging, informing, and empowering our colleagues.
  • Provide internal handling advice for leaders and project leads on sensitive, complex and often high-profile issues.
  • Forge strong working relationships with key stakeholders and partners. Build good relations with communicators in key stakeholder organisations to support collaborative working.
  • Support the full range of communications activity across the team.
  • Own performance, including self-development.
  • Manage own workload, including time and deadline management.
  • Participate in health and wellbeing initiatives for the team.
  • Ensure risk management actions are undertaken and reported within the appropriate system.
  • Management of budget and/or delegated spend.
  • In addition, undertake any other activities using your skills and experience as and when required.
  • Support and implement corporate strategy, decisions, and initiatives as necessary aligned with our vision, mission, and values.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable experience and success in developing and overseeing Internal Communications channels.

  • Significant experience and success in strategic planning, delivery and management of communications and engagement.

  • Able to analyse and present communications data and insights.

  • Ability to communicate and influence with empathy at all levels.

  • Outstanding writing and presentation skills.

We have a critical role in the biggest multi-decade clean-up project in Europe. As part of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, we provide permanent answers for nuclear waste.
Nuclear Waste Services builds on the work delivered at the Low-Level Waste Repository (LLWR) site and the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) programme, maintaining these key activities whilst also adding further essential services for customers in the nuclear energy, defence, industrial, medical, and research sectors. Maintaining and developing this knowledge and experience is key to securing and developing our unique nuclear waste capabilities for the UK and the rest of the world

Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) is a joint trading name of LLW Repository Limited and Radioactive Waste Management Limited.
This role will be employed by LLW Repository Limited unless the successful candidate is currently on Radioactive Waste Management Limited terms and conditions. In this situation the employee will continue on their current terms and conditions.
