This is a unique and specialist role performing the role of an International Liaison Officer at Europol in The Hague, representing the interests of specifically the policing ROCU network and more generally for the JICC, UK Liaison Bureau and wider HMG.
This role is a closed competition and to apply you need to be a serving Police Officer. Any applications from candidates not meeting this eligibility criteria will not progress. We are not accepting applications from Civil Servants.
The role involves dealing with international requests from all of the police services of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, apart from the Metropolitan Police, giving specialist advice to Police Officers within the ROCU network on how to manage and best channel their international enquires for their investigations. Often this will be provided to SIOs and other senior officers to assist them in their investigative strategies. This can be through the use of Europol capabilities, but also through use of Interpol and the FLEC. The role also involves dealing with requests from foreign countries and directing them in the correct direction for UKLE.
It is essential that the candidate has experience as an SIO and is qualified to PIP 3. A good knowledge of International law enforcement networks, relevant legislation as it relates to the UK and excellent communication skills are required. The on call requirement amounts to one week in about twelve and is usually not very onerous.
