JOB OVERVIEW
Magna Foodservice, a leading provider in the food service industry, is seeking a skilled Inventory Controller for our warehouse depot located in Hounslow.
This pivotal role involves managing and overseeing an extensive inventory of over 800 SKUs, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained to meet our dynamic business needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing effective inventory control systems, conducting
regular stock audits, and coordinating with the purchasing and warehouse teams to streamline inventory management processes.
With a focus on efficiency and accuracy, the Inventory Controller will play a crucial role in minimizing stock discrepancies and optimizing warehouse operations to support Magna Foodservice's commitment to delivering high-quality service to our clients. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the operational excellence of our fast-paced, growing company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Utilizing time-phased ordering techniques within our NetSuite Oracle ERP system to optimize inventory
levels, ensuring a systematic approach to ordering based on forecasted demand, lead times, and current
stock levels.
· Monitoring inventory levels and initiating purchase orders as required with suppliers.
· Using advanced inventory management software’s and technologies to streamline processes, including
barcode scanners, and ensuring seamless integration with other business systems like ERP.
· Ensuring delivery date accuracy by employing effective order management procedures.
· Minimizing excess / obsolete stock and wastage through effective re-ordering.
· Analyzing data to identify trends, forecast demand and optimize stock levels in the warehouse.
· Investigating and resolving any stock discrepancies or issues that arise.
· Working proactively to resolve product shortages through effective escalation with suppliers.
· Employing relevant metrics to evaluate the performance of suppliers, and formulating strategies
through periodic supplier reviews as needed, to ensure product availability.
· Collaborating with cross-functional internal teams to optimize inventory control processes.
· Liaising closely with other functions within the business to ensure the success of new product
launches and promotional initiatives.
Ensuring continuous improvement of standards with regards to the maintenance of stock / inventory data on systems.
· Delivering reports on inventory to senior management for review on a weekly and monthly basis.
· Coordinating with finance and sales departments to ensure inventory accuracy and reconciliation for financial reporting and sales forecasting purposes.
· Occasionally, overseeing and coordinating freight shipping, including the selection of shipping methods and carriers, negotiating rates, and booking shipments as required to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
· Regularly monitoring live stock levels, anticipating seasonal fluctuations, and adjusting ordering schedules to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize waste.
· Monitoring booking schedules for orders, and track deliveries expected to arrive, identifying any discrepancies or delays in the deliveries.
· In cases of delayed or missing deliveries, proactively following up with suppliers to ascertain the status, resolve issues, and expedite delivery where possible.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
· Strong background in stock and supplier management within the food service (or FMCG) industry.
· Minimum experience of 5 years’ operating within a warehouse / logistics environment.
· Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS) or stock / inventory management systems is desirable.
· Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of inventory management, from order placement to stock reconciliation.
· Thorough understanding of inventory performance KPIs and dealing with suppliers professionally.
· Proficient communication and team working skills, with the capability to convey, receive and accurately interpret ideas effectively.
· Full UK Driving License.
· Hands on experience with NetSuite. (Ideal)
· Previous experience with international suppliers and shipping experience. (Ideal)
· Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration. (Ideal)
· Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to food safety, storage, and handling within the food service industry.
