The Vacancy

Islamic Relief Worldwide is an independent humanitarian and development organisation, serving humanity for over 40 years. IRW’s Audit Division is recruiting for the position of 'Investigations Co-ordinator’ on a full-time, permanent basis to join its dynamic team, based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.

The co-ordinator will play an active role in providing support on sensitive case investigation process to internal stakeholders and give an overview of compliance with associated policies and processes. The role will involve co-ordinating with stakeholders and training role for case handling. Supporting the development of processes and policies and a super administrator role of the investigation system and ongoing orientation.

The role will also provide assistance to the Head of Investigations in supporting the work of the Division in assisting with ongoing review of key documents and associated materials and additional support as directed.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience of supporting or delivering investigations (e.g. fraud, safeguarding or grievance)
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership behaviour, takes responsibility, promotes accountability and motivates others within the context of formal investigations (e.g. fraud, safeguarding or grievance)
  • Experience of coaching or training individuals on investigations (e.g. fraud, safeguarding or grievance)
  • Ability to prioritise and work efficiently under pressure and subject to changing priorities; proven experience of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and using judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
  • Strong communication skills across a complex NGO organisation and with external stakeholders in an investigation or audit context.
  • A degree in a relevant qualification suited to the wide remit of the role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and laterally, to overcome challenges.
  • Experience of providing of quality stakeholder focused and timely service.
  • Proven ability and experience in analysing data which enables sound conclusion and recommendations to be drawn.
  • Prepares and reviews written reports. Demonstrates the flexibility and energy that is required for a high level of self-management and awareness.
  • Substantial experience in managing relationships and challenging situations.
