Job description

Job Title: Investment Actuary

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

Closing date: 22nd March 2024

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Investment Solutions team on a permanent basis. The team design, develop and maintain our market-leading investment solutions to support delivering strong outcomes for customers. 

 

It will be your responsibility to deliver the provision of specialist investment actuarial advice and analysis to Royal London Group as technical expert, working within a team of highly specialist actuaries, actuarial trainees and actuarial technicians.

 

About the role

 

  • Carry out financial analysis using complex actuarial and analytical techniques to support team, department or wider business planning.
  • Monitor and check the quality of the financial analysis performed by team members to ensure accuracy and provide feedback to the originator.
  • Challenge and make improvements and efficiencies to data, processes, procedures, and documentation to make them more accurate and/or efficient.
  • Provide specialist advice and interpretation of data and results to internal stakeholders and to third parties and external bodies as appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate the production of technical reports
  • Presents reports to colleagues, senior managers, Boards, and committees across the Group and to third parties and external bodies as appropriate.

 

About you

 

  • Qualified Actuary (i.e., FIA or FFA)
  • Deep knowledge of actuarial and financial maths commensurate with the nature and complexity of the work
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with internal stakeholders and to third parties and external bodies.
  • Highly numerate and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent understanding of life insurance products including competitors’ products
  • Keeps up to date with actuarial and industry knowledge and industry best practice and applies breadth of understanding to generate innovative and practical approaches.
