iOS Developer
We are seeking a number of experienced iOS Developers to join Nutmeg, JP Morgan's Digital Wealth manager in London on an initial 6 months contract. This is an exciting opportunity as you will be at the forefront of the organisations integration of Nutmeg into the Chase UK app. Key things we're looking for candidates to have include SWIFTUI, XCTest, XCUITest, Combine, Clean architecture, dependency injection, MVVM, and CI/CD amongst others.
Job Summary
The Nutmeg app enables our customers to invest with confidence, ease, and simplicity. The iOS team is looking for a number of iOS Developers who are not only enthusiastic about technology, but passionate about design and focused on delivering a world class customer experience. As the company grows and expands, the scalability of the app and architectural improvements required to build a robust application are becoming a key focus of the team.
You will join an existing Mobile team of over 30 engineers, consisting of 3 iOS squads and 3 Android squads. Each squad has a dedicated Squad Lead and Product Manager.
As part of an iOS squad, you will work on enhancing and maintaining the existing native iOS application, which now has over 100,000 monthly active users and a crash free rate of 99.99%. The app currently supports a minimum version of 14 allowing us to consistently innovate and make use of the latest in Swift technologies such as SwiftUI and Combine. We currently have a single iOS application, a home screen widget extension, and integration with the Chase UK app which will continue to be evolved.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow an Agile SDLC to develop and deliver product features to the native iOS Nutmeg application
- Take ownership of tasks, from the estimation stage right through until the release stage and post production
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve existing or newly-identified prioritised defects
- Write tests for all code you deliver and adhere to best practices/standards, ensuring high-quality code
- Take ownership of, or assist others with, bi-weekly releases and associated processes
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring high code quality and continuous development and learning for yourself and your colleagues
- Be someone who enjoys knowledge sharing, who is keen to attend and participate in some of the many skill share sessions we regularly hold in the iOS team and across the wider Engineering department.
- Propose/contribute/collaborate on Technical Initiatives - improving and evolving the existing codebase and toolset
- Be keen to ensure that we focus on solving the essence of the problem rather than merely dealing with the symptoms.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Commercial experience on native iOS mobile application development
- Excellent knowledge of Clean Architecture with Swift and Swift Package Manager
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with different testing strategies and frameworks, such as XCTest, XCUITest, Appium, and Snapshot Testing
- Experience with the MVVM + Coordinator design pattern, and other common architectures and ability to explain the pros and cons of each
- Experience with modularisation and dependency injection
- Experience with system design and associated technical documentation
- Experience with best practices in mobile design (human interface guidelines, threading, etc)
- Good knowledge of core iOS libraries and frameworks (e.g. UIKit, SwiftUI, Foundation, Security, Combine)
- Experience of iOS application deployment (testing, approval, publishing to Apple store)
- Experience of automated CI/CD processes and tools and ability to set up and maintain pipelines (we use Bitrise but this is not a pre-requisite)
- Experience with monitoring and alerting in order to maintain a production application
- Good understanding of REST and what it means to work with APIs
- Experience with Git flow
- Good communication skills and can work well within a delivery team and manage interactions with other parts of the organisation, such as Product and Operations
- Curious about new ways of working and open to difference approaches and ideas
- Proactive and willing to help others and put forward ideas
- Experience and willingness to help guide other team members to improve, mentoring more junior teammates, and sharing knowledge effectively
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills- nice to haves
- Experience building or working with Design Systems (UI Development, White-labelling)
- Experience leading on product and/or technical initiatives
- Appreciation for Accessibility and understanding of how to meet Accessibility requirements
- Understanding of Mobile Application Security considerations
- Experience with React Native
- Experience with feature flagging and A/B testing methodologies
- Experience in the FinTech sector
