IT Operations Engineer

Morgan Hunt is collaborating with a prestigious public sector organisation in Birmingham, seeking a proficient IT Operations Engineer dedicated to overseeing our server environments. As the primary authority for IT projects and support, you will ensure the reliability of our systems and seamlessly integrate Microsoft 365 services.

This pivotal role involves managing both physical and virtual servers, optimizing their performance, and maintaining their integrity. You will collaborate closely with the recently outsourced Service Desk and End User Compute services, providing 2nd and 3rd line support, and facilitating a smooth transition in its early stages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proficiently manage Microsoft Azure cloud and on-premise server environments, ensuring peak performance through adept administration, vigilant monitoring, and proactive maintenance of Windows and Linux servers.
• Spearhead file server and share management to streamline data access and collaboration.
• Execute update and patch management protocols for servers and user devices, fortifying our systems against emerging threats.
• Provide expert support for Microsoft 365 services, particularly in configuring SharePoint and other M365 applications, at the 3rd line.
• Assume responsibility for Active Directory across hybrid environments, encompassing both local AD and Azure AD.
• Lead or support key IT projects, leveraging your technical expertise to drive successful outcomes.
• Promptly address user support requests, troubleshooting issues with efficiency and precision.
• Effectively escalate issues to vendors and oversee ticket resolution processes.
• Optionally manage purchasing operations, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and procedural integrity.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated expertise in server management and virtualization technologies, including VMWare and Hyper-V.
• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Azure and associated cloud technologies.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Extensive experience working with M365, Azure AD, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

Details:

• Duration: 6 months
• Employment Status: Inside of IR35/ Umbrella
• Compensation: £246 per day
• Location: Birmingham, with a hybrid model requiring periodic presence in the office to meet business needs.
