Are you an IT Support Engineer looking to join an established team and be part of existing and future projects with the Defence and Security sector? You will be working alongside a small team of Engineers as part of the wider functional department.
You will have proven experience providing Software and Hardware support in a fast paced environment, providing hands-on knowledge with builds, support issues, systems updates and deployments.
This role requires on-site working, 5 days a week, in Gloucestershire.
What you will be doing:
- Performing daily system checks (identify and resolve any issues with local infrastructure and remote hardware)
- Investigating reasons for service problems (e.g. connectivity issues, hardware faults).
- Service and Incident management activities.
- Triage support tickets and resolve or escalate where necessary.
- You will be assisting with user support queries.
- You will be ensuring ITIL service management processes are followed for all incident and change related activities.
- Maintaining anti-malware status is up to date across the estate, and ensuring new updates are delivered in a timely manner.
- Maintaining infrastructure security through the application of regular system security patching.
- Managing System Updates, through the deployment of new software releases (as and when available).
- Managing the deployment of hardware updates and recalls (as and when necessary) to include testing of hardware, commissioning of hardware at new sites.
- Review site surveys and establish suitability for deployment.
- Ensuring asset management systems are kept up to date in line with the above activities.
What you will bring:
- You will have good working knowledge of their technology area.
- Good working knowledge and experience of associated software engineering tools, techniques, methods within their specialist area.
- Proven experience of working as a Software Engineer on small or medium sized software engineering projects.
- Knowledge of conducting unit, link, integration testing and support UAT
- Prepare implementation, conversion, and cutover plans.
- Proven experience of Installing systems
- Creating user documentation.
It would be great if you had:
- Knowledge of Linux and Red Hat would be great, but not essential, there will be the opportunity to learn.
- Project management experience
