We are looking for a Senior System Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Operating System, Application, Server, and Azure IT estate to ensure their availability, security, and reliability. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in system administration, looking to contribute to the success of our infrastructure projects.
Day to Day of the Role:- Manage service or change requests and deliver scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
- Identify, manage, and resolve incidents and eliminate root causes of problems.
- Maintain and monitor the IT infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Implement improvements, developments, and upgrades to the IT infrastructure.
- Maintain server and desktop infrastructure standardisation where appropriate.
- Provide second and third line support, and occasionally first line support during peak times or staff absence.
- Offer out-of-hours support for application deployments and upgrades on a rotational basis.
- Lead the delivery of infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and new services.
- Report progress and escalate serious issues to the Infrastructure Operations Manager.
- Contribute to the business strategy through infrastructure development, improvement, and support.
- Expand and improve the Infrastructure team’s documentation library.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and clients.
- Assist with procurement of IT hardware and software.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and assist with configuring components of the disaster recovery plan.
- Engage in continual training and personal development to maintain technical expertise.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator with increasing responsibilities and technical expertise.
- Expertise in managing Windows Server operating systems, virtualization technologies, network protocols, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 technologies and Azure cloud platform.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data backup/recovery solutions.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Infrastructure as Code technologies.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps practices is advantageous.
- Experience with SCCM management and deployment.
- Excellent PC support skills, including Windows client OS, Office 365 Apps, and 3rd party desktop applications.
- Experience with networking devices, Cisco firewalls, and HP/Cisco switches is desirable.
- Track record of completing IT Infrastructure migrations and upgrades.
- Implementation of IT security policies and procedures.
- Microsoft Server and Cloud certifications are required.
