Working within the Engineering Department the role of the Applications Engineer is to produce Engineering Specifications and Purchase Order Requisitions; also, to provide technical support for the Engineering contract designers to produce Bills of Material and Electrical and Mechanical drawings for Manufacturing and Customers (in accordance with the contract).
Main Responsibilities- To determine the appropriate ratings and performance requirements from Tendering Specification and check the equipment being supplied complies with the customers switchgear specifications
- To ensure the operational and performance requirements of the customers application (e.g., Current, Voltage and fault ratings, etc.) are complied with by the appropriate HSS equipment.
- To issue detailed Engineering Specifications for the Mechanical and Electrical Contract Designers, Manufacturing and Procurement departments for the Switchgear, and design complex relay protection and substation control schemes.
- To create and issue Purchase Order Requisitions for relays and other ancillary equipment as required to meet the requirements of the Engineering Specification, using the Company VISIBILITY system.
- To liaise directly (and via BRUSH Commercial Department) with customers engineers on all technical matters relating to the specific contract.
- To design and produce internal software schemes where required to enable the overall scheme to function and provide technical assistance to Test Department when required.
- Assist with manufacturing and quality investigations.
- Assist manufacturing with Continuous Improvement implementation.
- Support the implementation of RoadMap projects.
- Coach and train other staff in relevant technical areas.
Qualifications
- Qualified to HND/Degree level in an Electrical Engineering Discipline

Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of working withing the switchgear industry
- Commercial experience and/or BRUSH Switchgear product knowledge considered.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
