Gleneagles Townhouse has arrived in the city creating a new chapter in our history, bringing our countryside flair to life on St Andrew Square, in the heart of Edinburgh. We’re devoted to making our people feel as valued as our guests. In this way, we strive to support the whole ‘you’ – not just the professional part but the personal part too. People join our team for all sorts of reasons. Some work here to develop a career, some work full-time, while others have a part-time schedule to fit around their personal commitments. However long you plan to stay with us and whatever hours you’d prefer to work, we’re open to flexible working requests and offer hours, shift patterns and contract types to suit everyone.

Here's a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role:

  • You’ll take pride in playing host to our guests and will lead the restaurant floor from the front, overseeing breakfast, lunch and dinner service, while playing a support role to your fellow FB leaders in the delivery of private events
  • Working closely with our Food and Beverage Managers, you’ll manage the day-to-day operations of service, both of the food and drinks
  • You’ll intuitively read the room, anticipating, and fulfilling the expectations of our guests; always warm, thoughtful, professional, and well groomed, you play your part in ensuring luxury service is our signature.
  • Engaging, motivating, and inspiring a strong and passionate team, you’ll ensure they consistently deliver exceptional service and are equally spell-bound by the magic and theatre of the experiences they create; you’ll be nurturing and developing talent ensuring that your passion and expertise are lived through others
  • Developing strong relations with the Culinary team, you’ll work together to demonstrate that shared passion, clear communication, and living our values is what truly galvanises the team and drives excellence
  • You’ll be instilling a culture of continuous development and innovation, identifying new ways to surprise and delight your guests and your people
  • Holding daily briefings with the service team, ensuring everyone is crystal clear on the priorities and their responsibilities ahead of each and every service
  • Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us 5 star in every way
  • Interacting with our members and guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us luxurious in every way

The kind of person we're looking for:

  • You possess a positive, professional, and courteous attitude, always see a glass half-full, and are consistent in your mood, manner, and behaviour
  • Intuitively, you put yourself in the shoes of others whether that be your guests or your people; no matter how many times an issue has been presented to you, you recognise that to this person it’s likely a first
  • You’ll be an early bird, you’ll work flexibly during the week and weekends, leading from the front and by example
  • You have an exceptional and discerning eye for detail and take pride in fixing the small things that make a big difference; you have high expectations of yourself and others, driving high performance and ensuring others are brought on the journey with you
  • Nurturing your team through coaching and training, you’ll bring a strong people focus and the desire to grow and develop their talent
  • Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you're passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand
  • You have a positive “can do” attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
  • A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you're well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
