Job description
Liverpool UniversityHospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint one Junior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology based currently on the Royal Hospital site. The Gastroenterology Care Group is a busy department providing a comprehensive Gastroenterology and Hepatology service. The successful applicant is required for a fixed term contract up to 8 months.
The Trust is a large acute hospital with most major specialties on site. As a teaching hospital of the University of Liverpool there is an excellent Clinical Sciences Research and Education Centre with a modern well equipped library and IT centre.
Applicants are required to hold a medical degree, and evidence of the Foundation Programme.
The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of ward work in a busy gastroenterology department providing tertiary level care. There is opportunity for development of ward-based practical procedures including paracentesis, and attendance in clinic (supranumerary) or endoscopy (in observational capacity).
Clinical activities will be under the supervision of Dr Joseph Fiske.
There is no on call requirement to be covered, and working hours are limited to 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be assigned an educational supervisor and receive training
in luminal gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy. They will receive full exposure
to both in and out patient luminal gastroenterology and hepatology. The successful
candidate will be expected to undertake audit, quality improvement and research
projects, as well as to attend clinical governance meetings, mortality and morbidity
meetings and Multi Disciplinary Team meetings.
The post will also involve being a dedicated undergraduate coordinator for medical
students from the University of Liverpool. The co-ordinator would be expected to devise
timetables, be an educational supervisor and deliver teaching to medical students.
