Glencore’s Oil Division
London is the headquarters of Glencore’s oil business, which includes Glencore Energy UK that engages in the trading of various oil and gas products. Glencore’s Oil division also has mid-stream and downstream investments, as well as various power projects, which are managed out of London.
This role will be focusing on assisting with the management of the Glencore Ethics and Compliance Programme within the assets portfolio.
This role will form part of the Group Compliance team and will report to the Senior Compliance Officer (Oil Assets).
- Support in the implementation of the Corporate Compliance Programme in the relevant assets and operations in conjunction with the Senior Compliance Officers (Oil Assets), Head of Oil Compliance and the Group Compliance Team, including Local Compliance Coordinators
- Support with performing periodic risk assessments for compliance related matters in the relevant assets and operations in the relevant region
- Adapting corporate compliance policies and guidelines for local circumstances relevant to the assets and operations
- Liaising with commercial and joint venture partners on compliance issues, including the roll out of policies, procedures and guidelines equivalent to those utilised within the Glencore group
- Support in preparing written reports/presentations for Senior Management of the Oil division on the status of the Compliance Programme and roll out within Glencore’s assets and operations
- Providing advice to the business units (with our assets and operations) regarding day-to-day compliance related matters
- Providing training (both in-person and online) to our assets and operations and raising awareness regarding compliance related matters
- Helping to develop annual training plans for each asset or operation
- Working with the local Compliance Coordinators and the Corporate Compliance team to create compliance controls and monitoring adherence to them
- Interacting with Compliance staff, other control function personnel, and employees and management in all lines of the business
- Keeping abreast of regulatory developments as well as evolving best practices in compliance topics and management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Up to University / degree level
Compliance, legal, audit/risk or similar background
3+ years of experience in a similar function, preferably in an international corporation or a company operating in the natural resources sector
Fluent in English (any additional languages beneficial)
A good understanding of the oil and commodities industry
Good knowledge of compliance topics and processes, such as anti-corruption, sanctions and third party due diligence
is self-motivated, enthusiastic, pro-active and a team player
has an independent and flexible work attitude and is able to work well under pressure
has a problem-solving mind-set
has very good written and verbal communication skills
has strong project management skills
has a good know-how in using IT applications (MS Office)
is willing to travel (up to 20%)
