Job description

We're recruiting a Junior Controls Engineer for an ocean data company who collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment by using a marine robotic system.

An exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Engineer to join the company's Engineering team, working on the development of technology for our USV fleet. The successful candidate will get exposure to hardware, controls, software, and cloud systems and will work closely with a multifunctional development team. Reporting to the Lead Controls and Automation Engineer, the candidate will be involved with projects across a range of areas, with opportunity to learn from our team of experienced Engineers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting members of the Engineering team with Technical Projects.
  • Execution of Development project tasks as defined by the Project/Team lead.
  • Preparing weekly reports.
  • Preparing technical documentation.
  • Assisting with system monitoring.
  • Assisting with Configuration/Update rollouts.

Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience

  • 3rd Level Qualification in Engineering or IT/ Computer Science.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

  • Some knowledge of PLC Control, Mechatronics, Communication Protocols.
  • Knowledge of Electrical principles.
  • Some exposure to software development, ideally Python.
