Key Tasks/Duties of the Role
- Managing a variety of exciting and challenging end to end projects
- Assisting in the development and detailed design of 3D models for bespoke magnetic shielding for customers worldwide
- Working in close conjunction with senior colleagues to ensure design requirements meet agreed standards against the project plan
- Liaising with key stakeholders including the client & sales team to identify and refine design requirements
- Agreeing the specification and creation of associated bill of materials (BOM’s)
- Produce technical documents, reports and presentations for both internal and external use to required standards and deadlines
- Creation of required paperwork to transfer engineering design to production department via MRP system
- Working with other departments within the business to ensure works orders progress smoothly, pro-actively tackling roadblocks to ensure they are completed on time and in full
- Work with procurement colleagues to identify appropriate parts required for engineering designs
- Supporting the administration of investigation into new products and technologies and to support existing product improvements
- Working closely with other departments in achieving targets and outputs
Essential Skills
- Hold a relevant engineering degree in the field of mechanical/design engineering
- Strong experience using 3D CAD software (Ideally Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks)
- Relevant design experience – concept design, 2D/3D modelling, engineering drawings and designing for manufacture as well as maintenance and design improvement considerations
- Capable of producing detailed drawings to internal standards with all relevant information required to manufacture/assemble/purchase
- Excellent IT skills with strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
- Proven problem solving skills
- Strong initiative and ability to work autonomously on projects
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills at all levels
Desirable Skills
- One years’ experience working in relevant product design or development role would be an advantage
- Project management experience or similar experience
- Experience of working with precision sheet metal and machined products
- Experience with use of ERP and/or MRP systems i.e. SAGE, Oracle, Progress Plus
