Job Description:

Energy Market Analytics - Power Analytics.
Position purpose
The purpose of the team is to provide a view on the fundamentals of the European power system – the balance of supply and demand – convert them into numerical price forecasts and advise traders on the positions to take based on such forecasts.
The purpose of the position is to improve the efficiency with which these forecasts are generated and ultimately the profitability of trades.
Main responsibilities
The role will involve supporting the Senior Software Developer and other Analysts in a variety of projects ranging from adding features to existing code to developing completely new models.
  • Python Code maintenance
  • Make code more robust: develop unit testing, more shareable functions and libraries, but keep at a level where anyone can still contribute
  • Improve performance: increase throughput, reduce memory usage
  • Improve scalability (more users of the code simultaneously)
  • Management of different environments: Python and library versions, Linux if needed, Cloud computing
  • Act as a Business Analyst to push forward our needs to the right IT support of the company or externally
  • Ensure integrity of our database in relation with our power data BA
This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks assigned by the manager.
Our main engine is linear optimization; the codes range from I/O management to machine learning models.
Experience required
Recent computer science graduate or any other relevant engineering degree. The candidate will need a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and Software Engineering best practices.
A couple of years’ experience in a corporate environment would be welcome but not essential for the right candidate.
Technical requirements
Excellent Python coding skills indispensable. Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn
Parallel processing and concurrency.
Git/DevOps
Docker containers
Basic understanding of software design principles and best practices
Experience with networks and system management.
PowerShell or any other shell scripting language
Excellent SQL, familiarity with noSQL databases.
PowerBI useful but not essential.
Person specification
Ability to work in a team is essential for the role as is the willingness to learn about an exciting but a very technical industry. We are looking for someone rigorous yet able to response in a timely way in a fast-paced trading environment.
Hours of work:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
