Job Title: Kitchen Porter
Report to: Chef
Responsible to: Chief Executive
Hours: 16 hours per week over Monday- Friday
Base: Widdershins Centre, Sebastopol
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
Assist in the preparation and provision of meals, have the responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen during shift, ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cook meals and light bites following pre-set menus in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious, appetising and meet dietary needs.
- Attend community lunch clubs and other community venues as allocated to serve meals/buffets.
- Undertake simple stock control, reporting goods to be ordered to the relevant senior staff to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
- Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen and surrounding areas and also of equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level, working to a rota.
- Taking of meal orders as allocated in a Bistro/Lunch Club environment.
- Maintain and records relating to food hygiene and food allergens/intolerances.
- Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Ensure your own personal hygiene and cleanliness is of the highest standard
- To support the catering team with collection, washing and storing of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To meet for regular Supervision with Line Manager
- To attend Staff / team Meetings
- Flexibility to support the catering team’s allocated rota inclusive of annual leave or sickness absence
- To participate in developing and maintaining good public relationships.
