Job Description
ESS are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant or trainee chef to assist the chef in our busy friendly Community Hub & Café Monday to Sunday.
Hours: Full Time and Part Time hours available to include some weekends or/and evenings.
Pay: Starting Rate - National Minimum Wage
Experience is preferred although apprenticeship applicates are welcome.
Flexible working hours to meet business needs.
Duties include however are not limited to:
- Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas to establish proper hygiene.
- Washing and storing all cooking appliances, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes
- Assisting Chef by performing basic preparatory tasks, including washing, and cuttingproduce, combining ingredients in recipes
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors and wiping walls
- Receiving, labelling, and storing deliveries
- Promptly responding to instructions
- Comply with all food health and safety regulations.
- To assist Chef complete food orders and keep the kitchen working efficiently.

safety regulations.
Kitchen Assistant Skills & Responsibilities:
- To assist Chef complete food orders and keep the kitchen working efficiently.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and work quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to enjoy working with others
- Keenness to follow instructions and prepare ingredients according to the Chef’s directions
- Organisation skills and the ability to keep track of kitchen inventory.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and methods
- Understanding of health and safety regulations regarding food preparation and storage
- Basic understanding of how to use kitchen equipment.
- Excellent personal hygiene
