The Kings Head Inn is ideally situated at the foot of Helvellyn in the heart of The Lake District at Thirlmere, surrounded by spectacular scenery with unsurpassed views toward St John's in the Vale, Blencathra and Skiddaw.
We are a fully residential ETB 4 star inn, offering two unique dining experiences - both traditional English dishes and local specialities created from the finest local produce. In our award-winning St John's restaurant at the King's Head our Head Chef presents a creative four-course seasonal menu whilst in our bar dining areas we present our traditional local specialities.
Kitchen Assistant/Commis Chef in team of four - Live-in or Live-out
The ideal candidate should have had some good, general, Hotel / Gastro pub style kitchen experience, but an enthusiastic attitude and a desire to progress in a career as a Kitchen Professional, are as important to us as having lots of previous experience.
Main duties include:
- Preparing and cooking breakfast
- Preparing basic ingredients for the Chefs and participating in lunch / dinner service as required
- Making sure all statutory Health, Safety and hygiene regulations are adhered to ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the 5 star local authority rating for the kitchen
- All general duties associated with the operation of a busy commercial kitchen
- Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
Full training and development to more senior positions within our kitchen is available to candidates who wish to progress.
This is a full-time, live-in or live-out position, 5 days a week, including weekends, 2 days off per week, 28 days holiday per year.
Live-in accommodation is on-site. The live-in package includes all meals on and off duty, council tax, all utilities, laundry facilities and high-quality accommodation on the hotel grounds.
A live-out candidate should have a driver’s licence and be able to reliably commute.
Previous kitchen experience is desirable with excellent training for further development in all areas of kitchen skills. Should be able to assist in all aspects of high-quality food preparation, presentation and storage. Should be able to maintain 5 star local authority hygiene health and safety accreditation.
