Scope of the role:
Working for a successful small, but growing biotech organisation based in Berkshire this role will see you supporting with the development of new in vitro and ex vivo assay (mammalian) models in order to support progression of regenerative therapies.
This role reports to the Laboratory Manager and forms part of the R&D team, in turn integrating with the project and translational teams.
Role profile:
- Plan, perform and quantify in vitro experiments through use of established SOPs and introducing new techniques as required
- Assisting with in vivo experiments
- Working with the following experimental techniques:
- Molecular and protein profiling (PCR, q-PCR, Western Blot and ELISA)
- Histology and ICC
- Tissue and organ culture
- Cell biology (light microscopy, time-lapse microscopy)
- Handling of result data - collecting, analysing and presenting for internal decision-making meetings on next steps
- Curating research SOPs, risk assessments and Lab protocols
- Compiling reports, reviews and experimental summaries and remaining up to date with research literature and relevant technical developments in the field
- Maintaining a safe and clean Lab environment consistent with the requirements of Containment Level 2
Your background:
- BSc or equivalent minimum, in a Biological discipline such as Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry for example
- Industrial lab experience ideally from a translational or biotechnology setting
- Proven skillset in sectioning collected laboratory tissues (mammalian) for histology analysis
- Good command of classic molecular techniques such as q-PCR, ELISA, Western Blot
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, good team ethos and capable of independent working
- It would be beneficial if you held the Home Office PIL licence 1-3 (not essential as training can be provided)
- Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle in order to drive between two local sites occasionally
