A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified candidate to join a market leader in liquid fertiliser manufacturing as a Laboratory Manager. This role will be on a full-time, permanent basis and based near Lincoln.
To manage all aspects of a small laboratory ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and product quality - this is a hands on working role.
Previous laboratory experience is required but may be in the form of either work-based experience, or a strong academic background; however, full training will be given on laboratory protocols and the use of specialist equipment.
Duties
Ensures laboratory adherence and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and other laboratory accreditations.
Administration of LIMS.
Development and validation of analytical methods.
Prioritise daily workloads.
Conduct routine analysis and produce timely, accurate results.
Authorise results and CofA's; communicate non-conforming results with operations and propose technical corrective actions where appropriate.
Ensure equipment is suitably maintained and consumables stocked for the efficient running of the laboratory.
Supervise technical or laboratory staff and monitor performance.
Set the standard for behaviour, be a safety role model and ensure that staff members comply with all laboratory.
rules and regulations, to guarantee the highest quality of results.
Involved with capital expenditure purchase decisions.
Maintain laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, etc.
Establish laboratory procedures, create and manage lab-related documentation and organise laboratory activities.
Our ideal candidate
The candidate will ideally have a degree in Chemistry.
The candidate must have a good background understanding of Analytical Chemistry and ISO17025.
Experience of ICP-OES and Segmented Flow Analysis (SFA).
The candidate must have excellent communication skills, and to work well within a busy team.
They must be able to work competently, and independently once training has been given.
The role requires a good mathematical ability and computer literacy.
Excellent organisational skills are required, along with the ability to work to deadlines.
The candidate must be self-motivated and have a desire to develop their job role to suit the company needs.
Working hours will be 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday but other work patterns may be in operation between 6.00am to 6:00pm during peak seasonal business periods. Additional extra hours where necessary are expected to ensure the operational needs of the business are met.
Salary for this opportunity is circa 35,000 per annum plus good company benefits.
