Hexagon Recruitment are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client located in the Ellesmere Port area for the permanent position of; Laboratory Product Technician.
Working Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 2.00pm (Early Finish on a Friday)
As a member of the Quality and Technical department, you will be report to the Quality and Technical Officer and will be responsible for undertaking a range of quality checks, sampling, assessing, verifying and auditing of food based ingredients & products to the required company standards.
Salary £24,000pa - Plus Pension - Plus Holidays - Plus yearly paid Bonus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To operate within good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards and follow all GMP and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To encourage, support and assist in the company’s quality management system in line with the BRC Global Standards for Food Safety.
- Carry out assessment of products, ensuring that the product meets Customer, Quality, and Authenticity & Legal requirements.
- Responsible for the site calibration & temperature control checks & ensuring service schedules are maintained.
- Carry out GHP, GMP and foreign body audits to schedule.
- Carry out daily quality checks across all production lines/areas and report any issues and manage any subsequent investigations.
- Responsible for the completion, collation & filing of production & laboratory paperwork where applicable, assessing for completion and identification of errors. Ensuring correct archiving of completed folders.
- Stock control, ordering and receiving of consumables & chemicals.
- Responsible for the retained sample process including collection, recording, sorting and storage in addition to retrieval of retained samples & returns as required for investigation.
- Sampling, preparing & shipping of products, materials and swabs for external analysis and receipt of data and reporting.
Skills and Experience
Although not essential, the successful candidate would ideally have knowledge and/or qualifications in the following areas:
- General knowledge of Health & Safety and Manual Handling
- Food Safety in Manufacturing Level 2
- Proven knowledge within a food manufacturing background is essential.
- HACCP level 2
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Chemical Awareness
- COSHH
- Knowledge of BRC Food Safety Standards desirable
