Our Winnington CHP Operations Team, part of EON UK's Industrial Generation, Operations and Maintenance (IGOM) section, are looking for a Production Technician to support the Winnington CHP Plant delivering 24/7 Steam and Electricity to our customer TATA Chemicals Europe (TCE). Within this role you will be supporting the Shift Team Leader and Production Co-ordinator responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant, efficient operation of the plant, as well as supporting TCE with the operation of their new, state of the art, Carbon Capture and Utilisation Plant (CCU). 


Daily you’ll support the identification and implementation of improvements to all areas of plant performance with regards to SHE, commercial, performance, availability, and reliability. This is to ensure that we deliver safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations of the CHP plant, within operational parameters, ensuring that we keep compliance with management instructions, procedures, and policies. You’ll also deliver and support analysis of plant issues and provide technical advice with input into decision making, whilst liaising and providing effective communication with key stakeholders, including the Client and the public.

 

  • Operate the plant in order to deliver availability and reliability through investigations of fault conditions and incidents to achieve and exceed business KPI’s
  • Develop through structured learning and development plans to exceed minimum production skill requirements; contributing to a fully flexible team to meet operational requirement and priorities 
  • Provide first line maintenance and fault diagnosis escalating to the maintenance team when required
  • Ensure effective work control through communication with the site maintenance team
  • Ensure best value in meeting the needs of the Client and E.ON Energy Trading, whilst providing a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the plant
  • Manage operational procedures, routines and reporting requirements to comply with current SHE legislation
  • Be prepared and willing to respond to business needs in an emergency
  • Ability and willingness to enact the duties of Shift Team Leader (or Plant Co-ordinator for single staff shifts) as and when required
What we need from you
  • An ONC/NVQ level 3 in a relevant discipline, and/or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of practical industrial experience and/or knowledge to carry out all aspects of plant operation
  • Sufficient, appropriate and relevant engineering and maintenance experience within a similar role and/or process industry 
  • First line maintenance experience across relevant discipline area (Process, Electrical, C&I, Mechanical)
  • Experience of operating within safety, environment and operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation
  • Minimum of an IOSH (Managing Safely) or equivalent qualification,  demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management
  • Competence in safety assessment by producing such documents as risk assessments, method statements, manual handling, hot work assessments etc.
  • A proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with site teams, and deal with key stakeholders and external organisations
  • Financial and commercial awareness associated with the activities of the role
  • A working knowledge of key PC based computer systems
  • Planning and organisational skills to include effective prioritising of activities
