This is a Part time position (25 hours per week) Flexible hours available
We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and motivated technician to work within a fast paced, high-throughput UKAS accredited laboratory. Reporting to the Principal Scientist-Inorganic Chemistry, you will be an integral part of the Inorganic Chemistry team that ensures delivery of operational excellence whilst maintaining continual compliance with the ISO17025 and Drinking Water Testing Specifications (DWTS) standards.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of water samples for manual testing as well as some instrumental testing
- Laboratory daily checks required for the Quality System
- Some involvement in consumables stock control and consumable replenishment
- Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Laboratory housekeeping
- Sample preparation
- Participation in internal and external training courses identified as appropriate to your continued development.
- Maintaining basic CPD records to comply with the minimum requirements of competent analyst 1-9.
- Complying with all relevant Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Active involvement in driving innovation and process improvements.
To be successful in this role you will require the following competencies:
- A good standard of education; minimum GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, English & Science
- You are an individual with attention to detail that enjoys working in a routine environment.
- You will possess a positive attitude to health, safety, and environmental protection.
- You can follow strict procedures time after time without deviation
- You have the ability to work well under pressure, and a common-sense approach to problem solving.
- You have great interpersonal skills and demonstrate a colligative approach to working as part of a team.
- You will have a reasonable level of computer literacy and good written communication
- You have flexibility to respond to accommodating and prioritising workload fluctuations
- You will have a passion for learning and developing.
