Laboratory Technician (Molecular)

One Scientific is proud to be part of the Tentamus group which has seven laboratories in the UK offering a wide range of food and pharmaceutical testing. Our laboratories in Avonmouth, Bristol specialise in Chemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biology testing in food. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our small Molecular Biology team in a company which has around 120 employees.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in Molecular Biology to gain or develop laboratory experience in a supportive and friendly environment. The role will also enable you to gain an understanding of quality requirements and support the laboratory to continuously improve our systems and processes. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform testing of food and water samples in accordance with our UKAS accreditation to ISO 17025.
• Perform sample preparation according to in-house procedures
• Perform allergen test methods (ELISA and PCR)
• Prepare reagents and solutions for testing of samples inhouse
• Maintain good laboratory records
• Data entry into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
• Participate in proficiency testing schemes as required
• Perform routine equipment checks as required
• Maintain safety practices in all aspects of lab operations
• Maintain general lab cleanliness, including the cleaning of lab equipment and glassware.

• Ability to work well in a team or alone as required
• Independent and shows initiative when supervised
• High attention to detail and good accuracy
• Good communication skills
• General science background is helpful but not essential

Salary: £21’736

Holiday: 28 days paid holiday (including Bank Holidays) pro rata. Plus an additional 1 day per 1 full calendar year up to a maximum of 5 additional days.

Accessibility: The Park and Ride (Bristol A4 Portway) stops at the end of our road, so we are easily accessible by bus from the city centre. By train there is a small branch line from Temple Meads Station which stops at Shirehampton, approx. 0.5 miles from us. Free car parking in the vicinity, and bicycle lock up points on site.
