Land Apprentice – West Midlands - Tamworth

How does the apprenticeship programme work?

Our exciting and innovative Apprenticeship Programmes are designed to attract and develop a diverse range of talented individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and success of our business.

Upon completion of the programme, you will qualify as a Land Buyer, and subject to business need and performance you may have the opportunity to continue your future with Bellway. Career paths for a Land Apprentice may include:

  • Land Manager/Senior Land Manager
  • Head of Land
  • Land Director

The Role

As a Land Apprentice, you will work as part of the Land Department. you will work amongst the Land and Planning teams getting involved at the first stage of the build process to acquire land for development with a view of building quality homes and creating thriving communities.

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assist the divisions land team with identifying potential sites for development by carrying out new site inspections and site walks/visits, realising constraints and opportunities. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with like minded contacts in the industry and discuss land opportunities. 
  • Obtaining relevant information on potential sites and reviewing layouts of housing developments to maximise value.
  • Supporting with assessments on prospective land, and conducting extensive research.
  • Carrying out administration to support obtaining approval to purchase land.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of technical and health and safety aspects covering land purchases.

  • A nationally recognised degree-level qualification – BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management
  • Course Duration: up to 4.5 years, plus end point assessment (EPA)

We are looking for apprentices who can demonstrate the following behaviours:

In addition to this, we are looking for apprentices with the following:

  • Obtained or expected GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above
  • In addition, 96 UCAS points (or an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS tariff)
  • Willingness to travel around the UK and stay away from home for short periods of time
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
  • In order to be considered for this programme you must be able to prove eligibility to work in the UK

The Recruitment  Process

Video Interview:  Successful applicants will be invited to complete a Video Interview. This is a one-way video interview that you can record in your own time. 

Assessment Centre: the final stage in the process is a half-day virtual assessment centre where you will complete a presentation, team activity and competency-based interview.
