We are seeking a Qualified Lawyer specialising in Child Care to join our Social Care & Safeguarding team within the Legal Services Department. This role requires a professional with recent, in-depth knowledge and post-qualification experience in Child Care litigation, including advising on social services functions for children and young persons, safeguarding, and judicial review challenges.

Day-to-day of the role:
Provide expert legal advice on Child Care litigation matters.
Undertake advocacy when required, demonstrating excellent advocacy skills.
Conduct research and analysis to support cases and advice.
Solve problems effectively to meet the client’s needs.
Negotiate, draft, and influence to achieve the best outcomes.
Adapt to new and differing areas of work and procedures.
Utilise presentation skills to communicate complex legal concepts.
Work with computer and office systems efficiently.
Be willing to work out of hours for emergency work, attending committee meetings, etc.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive entitled to practise.
Recent experience in Child Care litigation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to provide clear, accurate, and timely advice.
Strong research and analysis skills.
Demonstrable negotiation and drafting skills.
Experience in Local Government legal work (desirable).
Experience in Adult Community Care law (desirable).
