Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Residential Childcare Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement, providing guidance and support to Residential Workers, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.
  • Provide guidance and support to all Residential Workers.
  • Supervise designated members of staff and record supervision sessions in the Supervision Sheet.
  • Raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.

Key Tasks:

In Support of Key Responsibility 1:

  • Plan, manage, and lead shifts, ensuring the safety and engagement of children throughout the day.
  • Ensure the Placement Plan for each child is followed and adhered to at all times.
  • Promote and support education, maintaining each child’s attendance in education.
  • Respond to the differing needs of children in a professional manner.
  • Follow all Local Authority Child Protection Procedures and Provision Care LTD ‘Safer Caring and Child Protection Procedures’.

In Support of Key Responsibility 2:

  • Ensure all staff act in a professional manner and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Cover shifts when staff are absent and ensure duty rotas are complied with.
  • Ensure staff read the Daily Log Book and complete incident/accident forms promptly.
  • Act as an advocate and advisor to the child, assisting with representations or complaints.
  • Undertake and complete training in accordance with the Personal Development Plan.
  • Engage with regular supervision and appraisals.

In Support of Key Responsibility 3:

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist other staff members and ensure a harmonious working environment.
  • Undertake effective supervisions and offer advice and encouragement to supervised staff.
  • Raise concerns regarding staff progress or attitude with the Registered Manager.

In Support of Key Responsibility 4:

  • Raise any serious issues or concerns directly with the Registered Manager.

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Contribute to creating a pleasant working environment.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Be flexible with working hours to suit the needs of the home.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by management.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • Adhere to and promote the Company’s Equalities, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a Residential Childcare setting.
  • Relevant qualification in childcare, social work, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of children and young people.
