Job Purpose

Working in conjunction with the wider business you'll delver all new fleet and Plant assets into the business, managing and maintaining these assets and ensuring that they are the most effective solution to our business requirements. You'll service, maintain and repair Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) and Plant fleet assets compliantly, safely and efficiently in order that UU can deliver the best quality water and wastewater service to our customers.

Job Accountabilities

 

You'll be responsible for the day to day maintenance of United Utilities plant and fleet assets, ranging from: HGV's, LCVs and 4X4 Vehicles, Pumps, Trailers and Grounds Maintenance Equipment, as well as being responsible for repairing and maintaining fleet and Plant in a cost efficient manner due to the diverse range of fleet and Plant assets. You'll also be responsible for:

  • Liaising with Operators with regards to the maintenance and repair of fleet and Plant assets
  • Commissioning and decommissioning fleet and Plant assets.
  • Keeping appropriate records and ensure all documentation is filled in accurately and on time.
  • Complying with Ministry of Transport legislation and Health and Safety regulations, and dealing with Health and Safety issues.
  • Participating in flexible working, standby and callout arrangements.
  • Preparing for LCV MOTs.
  • Undertaking fault diagnosis via electronic computer software.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

To be considered for this role you'll need to hold NVQ level 3 Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance certificate or equivalent and have proven experience in the Maintenance and Repair of LCV Vehicles and Plant. You'll also have:

  • Expertise in vehicle electrics and Computer fault diagnosis.
  • Significant experience in all aspects of mechanical servicing and repairs within a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to deliver of a high standard of work to enable the efficient and cost effective provision and maintenance of fleet and Plant to the Company.
  • Ability to work within a team to realise a smooth and seamless performance in order to ensure excellent Customer Service to the Business.
  • Full driving license
  • Hold or be willing to obtain IRTEC Vehicle Inspection Technician.
