Job description

Lead Analyst, Security Operations Centre

£43,026 to £50,491 per annum plus £1,750 location allowance and excellent benefits

Full time and based at Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes

Free shuttle bus available between central Milton Keynes and Hanslope Park

An inspirational line manager and team leader, you’ve got well developed knowledge and experience of the complex world of cyber security. You also possess an analytical approach to cyber threats, and the ability to pre-empt them. But now you want a new challenge. You want to develop your career into something that really matters. You want to do your job, but bigger. Here at FCDO Services we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you, one that will allow you to use all your expertise as you work to defend the UK’s national security interests.

As a trusted government partner, we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We keep complex developments on track, and on budget. And a whole lot more besides. Now we’re looking for a highly motivated and committed Lead Analyst to join our Security Operations Centre and work on the first line of defence against cyber threats.

Investigate threats and unexpected activities relating to our IT systems

When you join us in this important role, you’ll be a vital member of a close-knit team and work collaboratively as you manipulate and interpret data across the entire technological space. Always focused on the bigger picture and ready to learn from your colleagues, you’ll find that with us no two days are the same. Key to your success will be your ability to identify and investigate a wide range of threats, incidents, anomalies or unexpected activities within our IT systems, and oversee the implementation of successful resolutions.

Support our customers and mentor other members of your team.

You’ll have a wide range of additional responsibilities, including representing the Security Operations Centre at meetings, providing advice to other areas of our organisation on new services, and assessing the impact of any proposed work. We’ll expect you to keep up-to-speed on the latest IT-based threats and vulnerabilities – this will allow you to identify and report real time attacks on our networks. You’ll also support our customers in their response to security incidents, and mentor, train and manage the work of your Practitioner Analyst colleagues.

Use all your knowledge and expertise as you defend the UK’s national security interests.

Tenacious, imaginative, ingenious and passionate about your work, you’ll have the analytical skills and attention to detail that allows you to identify complex patterns quickly. We’ll expect you to have formal cyber security qualifications such as SANS, CISSP or COMPTIA, and in addition to membership of a relevant professional organisation, a networking qualification such as CCNA, CCNP would be desirable. And with a strong, positive attitude to everything you do, your superb communication, influencing and interpersonal skills will make you a ‘go-to’ member of the team.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas – but how will we help you in return? As well as a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service pension, we’ll also support your development with training opportunities to help you advance your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a superb package of benefits as you help to increase the effectiveness and security of our cyber systems.

If you’re successful with your application, you’ll need to achieve Developed Vetting security clearance. This process can take some time, but the result – an exciting and fulfilling career with FCDO Services – means that it’s well worth the wait. If you want to find out more about vetting and what we can offer you, please visit fcdoservicescareers.co.uk
