Lead Automation Scientist

Avanti are working with a robotics and lab automation company based in London looking to grow.

There is a vacancy for a Lead Automation Scientist to join the team. The role is to help lead a team of 5 bright, competent and experienced engineers. Ideally you will have leadership experience (performance reviews, line management, mentoring etc) and good experience of communicating at a high level with stakeholders within the business. As part of the role you will also start to define strategic direction.

The company are based in London and this role will involve you either being on customer sites (mostly around London) or at the office/at home. Ideally you’d be comfortable writing or understanding code - particularly Python. You also may need to do some CAD/mechanical design work but this role is more geared towards the leadership side so this isn’t necessarily essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and outline technical tasks and delivery schedules for client projects
• Management of team of 5
• Conceptualize comprehensive solutions for clients, encompassing both software and hardware components based on initial Pre-Sales blueprints
• Develop and implement testing strategies and risk evaluations
• Create automated workflows tailored to specific project requirements
• Work closely with clients to grasp their requirements, gather feedback, and propose optimized solutions. Produce project documentation and ensure certification compliance according to relevant regulations (e.g., UKCA, CE)
• Conduct training sessions for clients on the LINQ product and facilitate the transition of systems Collaborate with customer success managers, deployment engineers, and other departments to ensure project success
• Lead strategic initiatives with the success engineering team to enhance operational efficiency
• Foster a culture of feedback exchange and knowledge dissemination within the team
• Share project insights with product development teams to drive continuous improvement

Experience (Not all necessary)

• Demonstrated track record of managing and delivering complex projects for B2B clientele
• Ability to leverage scientific knowledge to maximize value for clients
• Proven experience in both leadership and line management roles
• Proficiency in cross-disciplinary skills spanning software engineering, electrical, and mechanical design
• Strong aptitude for cross-team collaboration
• Skilled in technical writing and reporting
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
• Proficient in Python for software development
• High level of quality awareness
