 WHAT TO EXPECT

 

We are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Lead Battery Pack Strategy Engineer, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Battery department.

 

This individual will be responsible for developing the commodity strategy for the follow on HV Battery pack designs across all JLR’s vehicle platforms and aligning this with stakeholders across the business.

 

You will be interacting with various functions across the wider business, including vehicle, purchasing, commercial, suppliers, manufacturing, and cross car line technology teams.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

You will need to possess the ability to understand vehicle requirements and how they cascade to a HV Battery. You will also need to understand the HV battery as a system and determine an aligned strategy for cell to pack integration, system and subsystem (thermal, mechanical, electrical and energy) capability. It is desirable to have a high-level working knowledge of power electronics and the components required in our Battery energy modules (BEM).

 

You will also need to be able to communicate clearly within the Battery wider team and to external stakeholders, including EDU, Charging, Vehicle, PTSE, Powerpack and Powertrain strategy teams.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential –

 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Automotive engineering or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of Battery Systems and understanding of Battery Cell technology
  • Understanding of design principles applied to Automotive Battery Pack design
  • Knowledge in the management and application of Computer Aided Design techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient use of Microsoft applications
  • Ability to provide clear direction within the Powertrain organization
  • Working knowledge of cell chemistry
