Lead Biomedical Scientist

The post holder will work with the Biochemistry Consultants to ensure the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient laboratory service in Clinical Biochemistry departments throughout the Western Trust laboratories. The post holder will be based at the Altnagelvin Hospital site. The area of responsibility covers the whole of Western Health and Social Care Trust. The post holder will practice as a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and is responsible for the management of the Clinical Biochemistry department within the Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT). The post holder will provide a high standard of analytical expertise and encourage the professional development of staff. They will ensure the provision of a high quality clinical, diagnostic Clinical Biochemistry service that meets the national standards of accreditation UKAS IS0 15189 and the needs of all potential users. The post holder will be part of the Laboratory Management Team and will be actively involved in formulating policy and participating in decision making for the WHSCT Clinical Biochemistry laboratories. They will contribute to and participate in pan-laboratory development plans. The post holder will advise the departmental Consultant Medical staff and General Manager Pathology on service delivery and provide specialist knowledge in relation to technical aspects of service delivery in support of best patient management..

Have a minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience as a Biomedical Scientist agenda for change Band 7 or aboveDemonstrable experience of managing and developing staff.
