Lead Client Accountant

Location Berkshire/Hampshire/Oxford/Wiltshire

£60k - £65k, Bonus, private health, health insurance +

The role: The Lead Client Accountant is responsible for overseeing the Property accounting team, ensuring exceptional financial service delivery to our clients. This role demands proactive leadership in financial management, client relations, and team development. The incumbent will lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, foster a high-performance culture, and drive business growth through strategic client engagement and innovative financial practices.

Duties:

  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programmes to enhance team capabilities and ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Regularly evaluate team performance, providing feedback and development guidance to ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • Oversee the management of client portfolios, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Enhance client relationships through strategic financial advice and personalised service, anticipating client needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Develop performance metrics and financial controls to optimise financial operations and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Lead change initiatives to improve departmental workflows and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with other team sections to streamline processes and ensure a cohesive service offering across the discipline.
  • Champion the use of the property asset management system (and other technologies) in improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and client data management.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, aligning financial services with broader discipline strategic objectives.
  • Engage in high-level negotiations and client meetings to secure and expand business relationships.
  • Demonstrate superior client-facing skills to solidify client trust and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Ensure full compliance with data collection and storage processes, such as GDPR and firm-specific protocols.
  • Proficient in managing and reconciling accounts, including client, general, and payment bank accounts.
  • Expertise in the preparation and management of VAT returns, service charge accounts, and client financial statements.
  • Advanced knowledge in using property management databases and financial software to maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards achieving excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively managing client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven analytical and strategic thinking skills, adept at business planning and financial management.
  • High levels of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical financial practices.
  • A good understanding of RICS guides and best practices relating to property financial performance.
  • Agile and adaptable, capable of managing complex client needs and dynamic market conditions.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, advanced financial management software, and client relationship management systems.
  • Extensive experience in property financial management and client accounting.
  • Proven track record in a management role with a demonstrated acumen for leadership, showcasing the ability to oversee complex financial operations and guide teams effectively.
