Lead Commercial Manager
£60,000 to £69,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 5)

We're looking for a Lead Commercial Manager to join our property team at Co-op. In this role, you'll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and coming into the office once a week (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).
As a Lead Commercial Manager, we'll look to you to lead a team of commercial practitioners, overseeing the delivery of the team's commercial outputs. You'll be responsible for the oversight and optimization of all day-to-day commercial activity, always making sure there's strategic alignment with Co-op's overall goals. If you can bring us the commercial skills we need, we can offer you the opportunity to play a key role in driving the commercial success of our Co-op.
What you'll do
- Be the commercial responsible lead on annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and business reviews
- Support the finance function in the production of monthly reports for all business areas
- Be the commercial lead on developing Co-op's 4-year plan by co-ordinating analysis of current project costs and using market knowledge to determine future budget requests
- Develop and implement effective commercial strategies to maximise on opportunities and enhance profitability and sustainable growth
- Work with partners across the business on property and pan Co-op projects, providing commercial support, effective cost management and budget control across all workstreams
- Lead and present monthly forecasts for all construction spend
- Oversee the team's preparation of feasibility and budget cost estimates to support programme development and store strategy, making sure these are accurate and correct
- Conduct assurance and due diligence of commercial activity within your area of responsibility
This role would suit people who have
- A strong track record in commercial management with experience in a supervisory role
- The ability to be a visible leader and champion in the control of costs and delivery of the capex budget
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills with a high degree of collaboration with internal and external partners
- The ability to act as a subject matter expert in their area of specialism and provide technical leadership in various governance forums
- The ability to engage with other others and influence across work levels and functions
