About the opportunity:
AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of four major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.
The extensive capacity and capabilities of the AXIOM alliance provide the essential expertise that is crucial to achieving both the designs of the alliance and the wider goals of Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
We are looking for a Lead CS&A Engineer to join our team in Birchwood Park, Warrington. You will be required to travel to site (Sellafield) or Glasgow offices once/twice a month (dependent on project requirements)
Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Leading design delivery of the CS&A elements of the project, linking with the CS&A RE and collaborating with Safety and other engineering disciplines to meet project objectives and milestones.
  • Coordinating and supervising delivery of CS&A design tasks (designs, assessments, drawings, and reports), checking and approving the output.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress against delivery schedules.
  • Providing oversight and review of supply chain produced deliverables to enable RE acceptance (inc. CS&A design deliverables and installation scaffold builds).
  • Liaison with stakeholders (plant personnel, system engineers, construction team etc)
  • Site inspections to confirm design scope and to develop design solutions.
  • Producing design and assessment calculation packages, CS&A documents and inputting into multi-discipline documents (e.g. NFRs, BoD, DJRs)

Here's What You'll Need:
Due to nature of work involved, only candidates with previous Sellafield experience will be considered. Part time work is an option.
  • General all round civil and structural design experience required, with experience working on alterations and modifications to existing structures amongst other asset care type projects.
  • Chartered Engineer with the IStructE or ICE
  • Experience of managing projects, leading a team and managing stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced working on asset care tasks in the nuclear sector (preferred).
