Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key Scottish sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 (depending on skills and experience) + performance related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?
As Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical management and development of our Microsoft Fabric data platform, plan and implement technical features and functions and maintain and extend our Data Model as we grow, and help implement Data Governance principles.
You will drive and own the establishment of effective data provision and management and will also work closely with the Lead Data Architect and Data Management teams on data models, governance and security, as well as business stakeholders around projects and IT teams to deliver these technical capabilities, data pipelines and models effectively into production.
Key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Become the SME and technical owner for the Microsoft Fabric platform, owning the platform development, including planning for and implementing technical features and functions that support the data product lifecycle and roadmap. (e.g. streaming analytics, use of CoPilot, etc.)
- Lead a largely 3rd party service based Data Engineering capability, using a professional and recognised lifecycle approach covering analysis, planning, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
- Lead on ensuring that business requirements that come into the Data Engineering team are appropriate and can be delivered as part of any solution engineering.
- Lead on the design, engineering, improvement and product ionisation of enterprise level data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and other associated Azure based capabilities.
- Work alongside other data professional (data architects, scientists, data analysts and other data consumers) to collaborate on the models and algorithms developed /used by them in order to optimise them for data quality, security and governance.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Excellent technical computing, analysis, design and development skills to a proven professional level.
- Experience with designing, building, and operating analytics solutions using Azure cloud technologies.
- Demonstrable use of specific Azure data related resources including:
- The ability to lead and mentor a Data Engineering team taking on responsibility for:
- Experience with Azure DevOps. Lead on all best practices and standards in terms of source repository control, CI/CD and change control.
