Role
Outline

Working as part of an agile delivery team, you will be involved in creating high quality software for the Clinical and Pharmaceutical sectors/industries in a fast paced, results-oriented environment.

As the Lead Developer you will have overall responsibility for development quality and adherence to development and CI/CD processes of the agile delivery team by displaying technical leadership.

You will be involved in and help drive forward architectural decisions.

In addition to your development responsibilities, you will be expected to line manage a small team of developers.

You will be expected to work with technologies such as Java, HTML5, JavaScript, Salesforce Mulesoft in the development of web-based applications and API services.

A passion for delivering complex technical solutions while following industry best practice is essential and experience building software for pharma in an agile SDLC would be beneficial.


Main Responsibilities
  • Promote the adoption of relevant architectural principles and software patterns that will ensure the codebase satisfies the major concerns of maintainability, extensibility, and readability.
  • Work closely with other Lead and Senior Developers and the Solution Architect when addressing significant architectural problems.
  • Champion improvements to software development process and tooling to promote quality and efficiency.
  • Act as an ambassador for the reduction of technical debt (including bugs) as a core priority for the platform and drive a quality first approach.
  • Promote adherence to unit testing and TDD principles.
  • Promote best practice in the codebase around error handling, logging and monitoring to achieve high levels of stability, resiliency and traceability.
  • Document design decisions, adhere to existing architectural and process guidelines, develop software components, support QA during testing and have oversight during implementation into production.
  • Working in an agile software delivery team in a hands-on capacity for the development of new software features and enhancements.
  • Ensuring that own and team’s new code adheres to TrakCel’s development quality standards and TrakCel SDLC Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow and contribute to the company’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they accurately reflect the way development works.
  • Being a role model and provide guidance and mentorship in the best use of technologies as well internal administration activities such as EQMS training and timesheets.
  • Be an ambassador and avocat for Software Engineering to the wider TrakCel departments and teams.
  • Support and where necessary, participate in automated and manual testing to ensure the team meets its quality commitments.
  • Actively participate in meetings with customers and other stakeholders to demonstrate and review product functionality and configurations.
  • Working through personal objectives which are set and agreed with the Head of Software Engineering.
  • Undertaking line management of a small team of developers including; regular 1 to 1s, appraisals, performance management, including supporting training needs and HR system administration.

Skills and Experience- Essential
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification, or other technical expertise.
  • With key development and CI/CD tools/applications Jenkins for CI/CD, IntelliJ for IDE, Gitlab for source control or equivalents.
  • 5+ years’ commercial experience:
    • Making design, architecture, development decisions.
    • Working with architectural and design standards and technologies.
    • Working across the full life cycle of development projects.
    • Have worked in agile teams utilising methodologies such as SCRUM and Kanban.
    • Understanding and experience of CI/CD and its importance during and for effective agile delivery.
    • Mentoring junior developers.
    • Developing using Java/J2EE or equivalent.
    • Developing web based UI applications and/or Web/RESTful API services.
    • Contributing to database designs and writing SQL.

Skills and Experience-Desirable
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Mulesoft platforms or other integration platform.
  • Experience using an ALM tool like codeBeamer or Jira.
  • Setting up and/or maintaining tools and applications to support CI/CD such as Jenkins, Docker, Tomcat, Git, Artifactory, Ansible, AWS, Azure, Terraform.
  • Experience of AWS services such as SQS, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudWatch.
  • Good knowledge of the HTTP protocol.
  • Experience of frameworks like Spring Boot and Hibernate.
  • Facilitation, being actively involved in an Agile transition, any Agile training and certifications.
  • Experience developing applications using an open source or commercial JavaScript framework such as Angular, ReactJS, Sencha ExtJS, etc.
  • Working with customers to help define and document technical requirements as business. development/project teams in the preparation of client proposals.
