What to Expect
As the Lead Engineer for Joints and Fixings you will get the opportunity to work on JLR’s Core Chassis Cycle Plan, you get to be responsible for the analysis and development of Chassis Joints, Fixings and Component Interfaces in this innovative area of JLR.
The Lead Engineer for Joints and Fixings will get the opportunity to work as part of a team of CAE Engineers in which you will be able to lead the design and specify requirements for our Core Chassis Bolted Joints
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Analysing joints to demonstrate capacity and capability using CAE based bolted joint tools e.g Boltcalc, Abaqus Bolt, hand calculations and excel based spread sheets
- Leading issue resolution within Core Chassis for Fixings and Bolted Joint related problems
- Delivering high quality analysis through use of robust input data, appropriate modelling, analysis and post processing methods.
- Lead development of our tools, techniques, requirements and standards to keep JLR in an industry leading position for our threaded joint technologies
- Conduct Bench Testing of Bolted Joints and Interfaces including Validation of suitable Torque specfications and achieved clamp loads
- Support Pre and Post Test Inspection of Engineering Test Vehicles and review of Torque Check results
- Provide prototype and production vehicle builds with Chassis Fixings Support
What You’ll Need
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experienced in the design and analysis of bolted joints
- Detail design experience fastener technologies
- Industry experience in CAE tools and finite element analysis
- Knowledge of vehicle suspension assemblies
- Previous experience and background in solving complex technical issues and challenges
- Previous experience of using CAE to meet defined performance and robustness targets
- Knowledge of material interactions in joint applications (corrosion, tribology, etc)
