LEAD ENTERPRISE DATA ARCHITECT

Lead Enterprise Data Architect


Salary Range: Negotiable, DOE


Location: Eastleigh - Hybrid Working


Hours: 37 ½ per week, Monday - Friday


Contract: Full Time, Permanent

If your response is a resounding "yes" to these questions, then an exciting opportunity awaits you! Our client is in search of a Data Architect to join their dedicated Enterprise Data Services team based in Eastleigh.


As part of your regular workday, you will engage in project-level activities, collaborating closely with both business and technical colleagues to formulate comprehensive high-level design documents.
One significant focal point of your role will be their ambitious multi-year transformation initiative.
This initiative aims to introduce a cutting-edge core policy administration and billing system across all product lines.


As a Data Architect, you will assume responsibility for overseeing the operational and analytical data design facets of this pivotal strategic project.
Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in managing and governing the deliverables of Contract Data Architects who are enlisted to support their transformative endeavours.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Provide technical leadership in Enterprise Data Services leadership and strategy meetings.

  • Support the Head of Enterprise Data Services in driving the ENTERPRISE DATA strategy.

  • Continual improvement of the ENTERPRISE DATA principles and blueprint designs.

  • Maintain the ENTERPRISE DATA model.

  • Participate in Solution Architecture Forum, helping to govern design or other projects and presenting own work for approval.

  • Chair Springboard Data Design Forum

  • Collaborate with the rest of the Springboard Architecture squad on overall solution design.

  • Design and govern Central Data Platform data pipeline patterns.

  • High-level ETL design/review.

  • Collaborate on conceptual data modelling (dimensional)

  • Review logical data models.

  • Present designs to relevant governance forums as required.

  • Participate relevant project ceremonies such as kick-off meetings and sprint reviews.

  • Co-ordinate and collaborate with other teams in IT - particularly Business Architecture, System Architecture and InfoSec.

  • Ensure that data management best practices are adhered to, in the areas of data security, data governance, data privacy and industry regulatory compliance.



To be successful in being considered for the Data Architect role you will need the following knowledge, skills and experience:



  • Insurance / financial services domain knowledge.

  • Expertise in at least two of these key technologies: Azure, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Matillion, Snowflake and PowerBI.

  • Event-driven architecture, including Lambda.

  • Analytical system DATA ARCHITECTure and ETL design experience.

  • Sound understanding of dimensional data modelling.

  • Experience in maintaining ENTERPRISE DATA models and data flow diagrams.

  • Sound understanding of metadata management, information security and GDPR.

  • Sound understanding of T-SQL, to converse efficiently with data engineers and modellers.

  • Sound understanding of data science and machine learning principles.

  • Sound understanding of data analysis, BI and data visualisation principles.

  • TOGAF knowledge a desirable benefit.

  • An ability and willingness to learn and develop new ways of working.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, which are essential for interacting with key stakeholders at all levels across the business.

  • Experienced communicator with and facilitator of large groups.

  • Ability to work as a part of a team and foster good working relationships internally and externally.

  • Timely and open communicator and diplomatic when dealing with others.

  • Has a customer-centric approach, building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Able to establish and maintain a high degree of customer / client / sponsor satisfaction and professionalism.

  • Experience in large scale organisational change or transformation would be beneficial.

  • Demonstrable passion for Agile and experience in Scrum.
