Our Role Requirement
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering you will have oversight and responsibility for the architecture and implementation of our React Native application.

CogX Platform provides a way to cut through the social media noise. Whilst powerful, social media platforms lack curation & personalisation making it overwhelming to navigate. CogX is building a new social media platform for professionals that’s curated so you can stay current without the noise of social media. Engage with the latest news and expert views, discover, connect and collaborate, all in the palm of your hand.
You will be working within the wider CogX engineering team to integrate with our backend running on Heroku and AWS, ensuring that features are considered and tested end-to-end.
You will also work closely with the CogX product team to identify, scope and implement the necessary features on our product roadmap.
CogX Festival - The world's largest festival of inspiration, impact & change across Transformational Technologies. In the past 6 years the Festival has had over 1,000 speakers across each event, over 20,000 in-person attendees and over 850,000 online viewers of its 2021 edition. For 2022 coming out of the Pandemic we showcased 300+ speakers to 6,000 attendees across 20 inspiring topics from leadership to ethics to health and our planet and all addressing the question "How do we get the next 10 years right?".
Our previous world class speakers included Tony Fadell, John Kerry, Mary Robinson and Daphne Koller to name a few. Our community & alumni partners have an array of global organisations and include Google, Sony, Vice, Goldman Sachs, BBC, Barclays, ThoughtWorks, BT, NHS, Tesla, Warner Music Group, PWC and Microsoft. Key Responsibilities
- Providing technical leadership for the frontend engineering team
- Mentoring other members of the team
- Setting standards for code quality and establishing best practice
- Writing and maintaining frontend code across both our web and mobile platforms
- Implementing PoCs in various languages and frameworks to test product hypotheses
- Defining architecture and choosing tools with other Engineering team members
- Working closely with the Product, Design and Data Science teams
- Integrating with our backend API running on Heroku and AWS (the rest of our stack includes Python, Django, PostgreSQL)
- Working as an effective member within our agile/scrum based environment
- Participating in code reviews, write automated tests
- Creating and enhancing the test infrastructure for our application
- Integrating with third party analytics tools and other third party APIs
- Integrating with CI/CD tools such as Codeship, Github and others
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
The preferred candidate MUST have
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in engineering leadership roles
- Confidence taking ownership of the end-to-end software development process
- Ability to work independently within the framework of objective-based management, rather than task-based.
- Strong experience of cross platform mobile development using React Native and TypeScript
- Strong experience of front-end web development using React and TypeScript
- Comfortable owning the process of publishing apps to Apple App Store and Google Store
The preferred candidate SHOULD have
- Experience developing mobile apps with native code (Swift and Java/Kotlin)
- Familiarity with SQL
- Familiarity with Heroku
- Familiarity with AWS
- Familiarity with Python/Django
