Job overview
The Brighton & Hove West Assessment & Treatment Service (ATS) have an exciting opportunity for a clinician to join us for 15 hours per week, working alongside our existing Neurodiversity Mental Health Practitioner. You will have an interest in autism, and to support autistic people open to community services that also have a diagnosed mental disorder. This autism link role will focus on supporting the community team's Lead Practitioners by providing episodic co-working, consultation, and expertise across the ATS.
This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based and line managed within the ATS, and play a key role in linking with the Transforming Care Autism Team (TCAT) staff. TCAT are a small assessment and consultation tertiary MDT that supports Sussex Partnership clinicians with admission avoidance, and facilitating discharges for autistic people. The post is a great opportunity for the postholder to work alongside this highly specialist, innovative team who are passionate about improving the lives of autistic people in mental health services. TCAT will support the post holder to develop into the specialist link role through providing supervision, training and shared learning experiences. The role will more broadly enhance the community team approach and effectiveness with this cohort of people open to community teams and as clinically indicated align with TCAT.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will provide consultation, advice, support and episodical care plan interventions to support a Lead Practitioner in delivering reasonable adjustments; to support the person in our care towards their recovery journey. You will also be expected to hold a small caseload. You will be working with adults aged 18 and over with a diagnosed functional mental health disorder and neuro-divergent needs. Duties will include linking with TCAT to support individuals in the least restrictive interventions that meet their clinical and safety needs. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams across the ATS and TCAT to provide care in the community.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental health Nurse Occupational Therapist or Social worker with current registration
  • Completion of Mentorship Course
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualifying experience in the relevant care group
  • Experience of working alongside people with complex health problems in the designated care group
  • Experience of providing a range of clinical interventions to people in the designated care group with a variety of health problems
  • Experience of working consultatively with professionals
  • Experience of conducting clinical assessments including risk assessments
  • Experience of partnership working within and across various statutory and non statutory teams and agencies
  • Experience of working within the CPA process
  • Understanding of clinical governance
  • Previous experience of working in the community
