My client is an antibody discovery and therapeutic company focussed on developing innovative treatments for veterinary diseases.

As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced scientist to join their growing and dynamic team, bringing the latest scientific knowledge and passion for innovation.

The role is ideal for an experienced molecular biologist with a background in drug development and project management, who is eager to apply their expertise to the growing area of veterinary therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Principal Scientist – Drug Discovery:

• Implement advanced immunological and pharmacological assays to characterise and assess antibody potential.
• Lead antibody discovery initiatives through target identification and antibody generation.
• Provide leadership and support to a multidisciplinary laboratory team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance projects from target validation through to clinical development.
• Innovate and apply the latest methodologies and technologies to enhance the Drug Discovery and development process. Leading and contributing to the development of novel therapeutic antibodies and biologics targeting critical disease pathways.
• Present project progress and results to stakeholders and collaborators, and contribute to the scientific community through publications and presentations.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and advancements and promote a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.

To be considered for the Lead Principal Scientist – Drug Discovery you will need the following skills and experience:

• A MSc/PhD in a relevant field such as Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or Animal Health, or a related field, plus significant industrial work experience.
• Proficiency in cellular and molecular biology techniques, including in-vitro pharmacology drug design, optimisation, validation, and development.
• Extensive experience of SPR, FACS, Cell-Based Assays, Nanodrop Spectrophotometers, Cell Culture and Protein Identification methods.
• Proficiency in statistical methods, data analysis software and bioinformatic tools for interpreting complex data sets.
• Experience in Project Leadership and Line Management with a track record of fostering collaborative research and cross-disciplinary communication.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, utilising critical thinking and analytical skills to ensure smooth management and delivery of research projects.
• Prior experience collaborating with colleagues and teams across functions including discovery, early development, clinical and manufacturing.
• Exceptional organisation and communication abilities, comfortable engaging with all organisational levels and representing the company to external stakeholders.
