WHAT TO EXPECT
We are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Lead Engineer, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Software Delivery realm.
This individual will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of battery management and charging software that enables JLR’s next generation of battery electric vehicles.
Your mission? To work alongside Product owners, subject experts, programme Delivery Engineers, in-house software teams and external software suppliers to define and deliver the roadmaps to production-ready software that delivers value to the customer.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Working with other experts, you’ll be involved in development activities from concept through to final sign off including –
- Software integration and delivery
- Working with in-house software teams, suppliers and central integration teams to create an integrated delivery plan
- Lead software change control and defect management processes
- Engaging with squads and suppliers in weekly reviews on progress and impediments
- Releasing of software to deliver new products and valuable software increments to internal customers
- Working with certification teams in document creation for the approval process
- Creating engineering statements of work in partnership with our software suppliers
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You will be the interface between delivery and software management teams to make sure this happens, facilitating the resolution of technical roadblocks and using product planning and burndown charts to track progress against the agreed profile.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential –
- Knowledge and application of embedded software creation, validation and delivery processes
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience of Agile methodology and CI/CD pipeline
- User of JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab
- Experience working in a controls and software environment, ideally Powertrain and/or vehicle systems
- Battery electric vehicle domain knowledge
- Knowledge and application of Standards, Validation Testing and Issue management tools and processes
