I'm the lead consultant at Matchtech within our Renewable Energy Team, and I am currently partnering with a fast-paced Renewable Energy company based in Leicester, who are going to disrupt the market and are on their way to net-zero.

With lots of backing, they are now looking to grow their engineering team and are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to come on board and take leadership of their Power Management System.

As the Lead, you will play a pivotal role in steering and supervising a team of software and controls engineers to ensure the successful execution of projects and tenders. Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and project managers, facilitating on-time project delivery, supporting product development, overseeing lifecycle management, and proactively managing potential risks.

Your key responsibilities:

• Providing robust technical and managerial leadership to achieve functional priorities, serving as the technical authority.
• Collaborating with functional managers to define realistic operational goals within projects, actively contributing to their successful execution.
• Ensuring accountability for on-time delivery of projects/products meeting quality standards and cost constraints.
• Leading lean processes for software configurations, encompassing test and validation processes.
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks at both product and execution levels (ITO & OTR), ensuring project success and customer satisfaction.
• Proactively identifying challenges in the delivery schedule and negotiating necessary changes through change management.
• Supporting the team by preparing and reviewing technical specifications for control system projects based on workload and priority.
• Assisting in complex proposal development and bid preparation for new projects by creating the necessary technical offering, costing, and scheduling information for Power Management Systems solutions.
• Managing all aspects of the team, including training, development, and performance management, adhering to business policies and procedures.

Ideal Candidate:

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in software, electrical, control, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrate proven experience in leading and managing software/controls engineers within power, industrial, or automation sectors.
• Showcase strong proficiency in C++ programming and, ideally, possess C# programming experience.
• Exhibit awareness of Lean Six Sigma methodology.
• Display the ability to interpret electrical power system and switchgear components and create technical and functional design specifications.
• Have experience in leadership, management, or mentoring, which would be advantageous.
• Boast excellent communication and collaboration skills.
