Job description

"Great service and very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for all your help."
Our clients love us, and we think you will too!
We have an unmissable opportunity for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team at Bristol Imperial Vets4Pets. This vacancy is with a well-established practice where some of the colleagues have worked since its doors opened!
The practice is independently run, by Ben Kelly, supported by a fantastic team, who are committed to delivering an outstanding level of service in the community and through this they have enabled a real “proud to be part of the team” work ethos.
We are fortunate to have a very varied case load and due to having support from Referral Vets you can also gain experience from Orthopaedic Vets and Advanced soft tissue Surgeons. CPD and achieving career goals are a priority within the practice, with regular opportunity to discuss and support across any Certificates that will help shape your own career journey.
Vets4Pets Bristol Imperial, is an Approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, RCVS accredited; and proud to be a Silver Cat Friendly Clinic (ISFM) and a Rabbit Friendly Practice (RWAF) evidencing their commitment to clinical excellence. It is fully equipped with a digital X-ray, an ultrasound machine with cardiac probes and ECG, an inhouse lab, oxygen chamber and blood pressor monitors.
With more than 440 small animal practices across the country, of all shapes and sizes, Vets for Pets is one of the largest UK veterinary groups and offers Veterinary Surgeons a range of opportunities, including the opportunity to run your own practice. However, what really makes vets for pets a unique opportunity is that it is run locally, providing our local teams the time and opportunity to support their local community. This means you to join a team that can support your individual needs while offering you a bespoke introduction to the practice, local community and caring for our patients!
What makes this role different for you
Along with joining Ben and his team who will support your development, there are realistic ways to develop within the practices and enhance your career. Certificates for example are supported and fully funded.
You will also be pivotal to the practice, truly shaping the standards within the practice and putting your stamp on how care for your patients is provided. You will be expected to mentor junior vets ensuring they feel supported and help them gain the experience and confidence they need.
This is a full-time role and will be for 37.5 hours per week inclusive of weekends, weekends will be worked on a 1:5 basis. There is no OOH’s and so when you are finished for the day you are always able to rest and recharge. However, we are passionate about giving people the opportunity to create a work life balance that suits them, so if you are looking at a more flexible working arrangement please get in touch as we will be happy to discuss this.
In addition to a rewarding role in a superb location which has excellent transport links (15 minutes from the airport and train station), you can also expect to receive:
  • Competitive salary dependant on experience up to £60,000 (FTE)
  • No out of hours providing for a healthy work / life balance
  • 5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Paid professional memberships including RCVS and VDS
  • Dedicated CPD allowance including funding for Certificates
  • Life assurance 4 x annual salary
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Uniform provided
  • Colleague reward hub - exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

What you can offer us
Sharing our passion and commitment for high standards, will ensure you thrive within this role. With a confident and capable approach, the team would love someone who could bring new ideas and ambition to the team, as they are always looking for ways to improve and grow. As a Practice we are inclusive, embracing a supportive and non-judgement environment.
You will have experience in surgery and ideally have lead a clinical team before. You will be willing to undergo further training so you can help drive us forward as a team and a practice as a whole.
You will a leading force in delivering the high standards of care within the practice and restlessly ambitious on driving the practice forward to even greater heights!
We want our colleagues to be as diverse as our clients. Our teams are inclusive and celebrate difference so if you meet our role requirements, we’d love to hear from you.
