Lead Web Applications Software Engineer - London Salary Circa £70,000 - National Salary Circa £55,000.
We are looking for an enthusiastic & energetic senior developer to join the Mobile apps platform team, to power our customer capability by leading our API integration team.
We would love you to be a part of building great new innovative ways to engage with new and existing customers, on a portfolio of products that reach out to 17 million customers. It's never been more important for us to hire fantastic people into our awesome digital teams who sit at the forefront of delivering our strategy. Our scrum teams work across a range of products such as Home, Motor and Travel insurance bringing in a combined £122m GWP and Breakdown insurance, pensions, retirement planning, protection, and health.
A bit about the job:
Within Aviva Digital we approach software delivery with an Agile mind-set, focused on delivering small, value driven enhancements. We achieve this with our scrum teams, which include developers, testers, BAs and Product Owners to create brand new experiences, small changes to existing products as well as investing in maintaining our existing products to improve code quality against our core development principles.
We are looking for a Lead Web Applications Software Engineer to join our Digital organisation, working within one of our scrum teams to build, maintain, change, and further evolve both existing and new products.
Aviva operates a "smart working" policy meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in an office this role is based in London or Norwich.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Experienced and confident lead developers who want to be hands on and create great platforms on a large scale with excellent technical expertise in Web development technologies including C# MVC, .Net Core while bringing people on board through mentoring.
  • Someone with strong behaviours - negotiating, influencing, challenging, gaining commitment and comfortable in problem diagnosis and resolution in pressured situations. We want Lead Developers that aren't afraid to fail whilst also wanting to celebrate success and sharing best practice.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry direction and trends within Web and Mobile application development.
  • Experienced working within an agile environment; including shaping product backlogs and solutions for new projects and initiatives and alongside that able to identify and create epics, write user stories, t-shirt sizing and pointing.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading the implementation of modern Software Engineering practices, such as Test-Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Code Analysis software (CheckMarx).

  • London Salary circa £70,000, National Salary circa £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
